A highlights reel in short daily bites
The set of Bible passages below is one way for you to zoom in to some of the detail of the Bible. You can zoom out to get the big picture of the Bible’s story in the 15 stages of the Bible overview, but at other times it’s good to zoom in and see the details.
This guide provides a highlighted verse of 25 words (or a few more) for each day, for 25 days. We’ve also included the context of that verse to help you understand how it fits in to the Scripture around it—the verse itself we’ve highlighted in bold. There’s no unifying theme for this set of readings, other than you can think of this—together with the 15 stages of the Bible overview—as the highlights reel of the Scriptures.
In terms of the 15-stage Bible Overview you’ve already seen, these verses come from all over the Bible, but they are focussed on the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus. Why are they focussed here in particular? Well, as we’ve seen in the overview, the storyline of the Bible has its high point in Jesus, in whom the promises of God are fulfilled, the effects of the fall reversed for those who trust in him, and from whom springs the hope of new resurrected life in the new creation.
Here’s an opening prayer you might like to use before each of the studies:
Please teach me through your word as I read and consider it. Help me to see Jesus clearly, and to give my life over to following him.
